The Charge D’ Affaires at the United States Embassy, Isiah Parnell, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Minister Mike Henry at his office on Maxfield Avenue recently. The call was made against the background of Jamaica hosting the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Conference for Air Services Negotiations, “ICAN2010” at the Ritz-Carlton Golf and Spa Resort, Montego Bay, St. James

Minister Henry expressed the Ministry and Jamaica’s thrust for open skies policy and aeronautical capacity, adding that with new open skies agreements and partnerships plans can be fast-tracked to have Vernomfield and Boscobel Aerodromes become Jamaica’s new ports of entry. He further added that the signing of new agreements will undoubtedly increase the number of flights coming in from North America, which he stressed will be beneficial for all parties concerned. Mr. Parnell congratulated the Minister on the move to expand the capacity of the ports of entry, and lauded the thrust for more open skies agreements as a positive move for the country.

The conference runs from June 28 to July 02, with over 160 delegates from 42 States registered to attend to conduct a series of Air Services Negotiations. Delegates will represent countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East. Jamaica will conduct air service negotiations with over 7 States
