Special attention was placed on the women of the Ministry of Transport and Mining on International Women’s Day, Wednesday, March 8, 2017.
Under the theme #BeBoldForChange Celebrating the Ministry’s Women, the Programme saw several of the men within the Ministry reading inspirational poems to the ladies. Among the men paying homage to the women in this respect were Demar Cornwall, Johnnoy Reid, Jerome McKenzie and Shamar Moore.
The Lobby of the Ministry was the stage for the celebrations which were ably compered by Crystal Smalling. Several women won prizes and gift items with Joan Wynter and Annette Hemmings walking away with the top prizes for women whose ensemble consisted of most purple, the colour for the observance of the day.
The short ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
