Changes are coming to the flow of traffic along the Mandela Highway. Effective this Sunday, April 2, a detour route will be in effect near the Hydel Group of Schools. This detour will however, impact only motorists heading from the direction of six miles towards Spanish Town.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the detour has been created in order to facilitate the construction of the southern abutment to the overpass bridge. The overpass bridge will facilitate access to the schools, business establishments, police station and the Ferry community. Two bridges are now under construction as part of the US$64 – million dollar road improvement project.
Mr. Shaw says that more changes will be coming in the next few weeks, as the contractors ramp up the activities. These changes will be announced as soon as all stakeholders have been engaged and all technical issues addressed.
Motorists are being reminded to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs, while traversing the Mandela Highway.
