MTM TAKES RUNNER-UP SPOT IN BRAIN GAMES QUIZ

The Ministry of Transport and Mining finished runners-up to defending champions, Ministry of National Security in the recently concluded ‘Brain Games’ Quiz Competition put on by the Jamaica Civil Service Association. The Finals took place at the Penthouse of the Ministry of Finance’s Office at National Heroes Circle on Friday, November 25.

The competition which was held over two days, saw teams from Ministries, Departments and Agencies battling it out for various prizes and was a feature of the 25th anniversary of Civil Service Week.

The team of Francois Graham (captain), Kennard Goldson, Ryan Lee and Leo McEwan acquitted itself well as worthy ambassadors of the Ministry of Transport and Mining and said they were pleased to have been a part of the competition, noting that they gained invaluable exposure from the experience. Team captain Graham said he would be doing the requisite work to ensure the Ministry takes the top prize the next time as he highlighted the fact that this was the second occasion on which the team was taking the runner-up spot.

Manager/Coach for the team, Paula Brown echoed similar sentiments while praising the team for its efforts. She indicated that getting the team prepared from early would be a key factor in mapping the strategy for the top prize when next the team competes.

The competition was patterned off the TVJ Schools Challenge Quiz model and saw questions being fielded from various subject areas including, Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Jamaican Heritage, Religious Education, Civil Service Affairs, Current Events, Sports, Science, History and General Knowledge.
