The Bushy Park to Spring Village Roadway in St. Catherine which was rehabilitated jointly by the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing (through the National Works Agency) and Jamaica Broilers Ltd was re-opened on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

Speaking at the re-opening ceremony, Transport, Works & Housing Minister, Dr. the Hon Omar Davies said the Ministry was very pleased to have partnered with Jamaica Broilers in the rehabilitation of the thoroughfare. He said that this was a demonstration of public/private partnership, a model he said he would like to see replicated with respect to the implementation of other road projects. Minister Davies said that given the competing interests of the Ministry, the initiative was particularly timely and helpful.

Also speaking at the Re-opening ceremony was Mr. Robert Levy, Chairman of Jamaica Broilers. He chronicled the rehabilitation process and thanked the NWA for their accommodating stance in facilitating the process.

For his part, MP for the area, Mr Everald Warmington thanked all the stakeholders who contributed to the rehabilitation of the road. He noted that a lot of work went into the rehabilitation but said it was well worth it.

Responding on behalf of the residents, Mr Randy Finnikin hailed the initiative as a ‘great celebration of joined up effort’. He said a Community team will be put in place to maintain the road and its environment.

Others in attendance at the ceremony included, Permanent Secretary Audrey Sewell, CEO of the NWA, Mr. E.G Hunter, Minister without portfolio in charge of Housing, Hon. Dr. Morais Guy, Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing, Mr. Richard Azan as well as other officials from the NWA and the MTWH.
