Newly appointed Minister of Transport and Works, Hon. Shahine Robinson as well as Permanent Secretary Audrey Sewell assumed duties at the Ministry of Transport and Works on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
Minister Robinson was appointed Minister of Transport and Works following the resignation of Minister Mike Henry while Mrs. Sewell is acting in place of Dr. Alwin Hales who is on vacation leave.
In addressing senior staff in a meeting with them on December 1, Minister Robinson expressed pleasure at being in the Ministry and meeting with senior staff members. She placed on record the contributions of former Minister, Hon. Mike Henry, saying that he laid a good foundation on which she could build. She said that she intended to fulfill the policies of the Ministry as she worked in tandem with staff to ultimately enhance the lot of citizens.
For her part, Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Audrey Sewell highlighted the fact that she saw her sojourn at the Ministry as a ‘kind of coming home’ having worked here before. “In fact”, she said, “It was my initial training ground and those years spent here have served me well.” She further explained that she was looking forward to working with everyone, noting that she was willing to learn from staff as she embarked on her new assignment.
